Glenearn Golf Club plays over all three golf courses at Gleneagles, Perthshire, Scotland. The club plays medals every weekend during the regular season, has alternating medals and Stableford competitions on Wednesdays, and plays a weekly Winter League fixture during the off-season. Friendly matches are also organised with other clubs on a home and away basis.
Captains Welcome for 2012
Fellow Members,
A very happy New Year to you all, and let us hope that our Scottish weather allows us to enjoy our wonderful Gleneagles' golf courses at their very best. However, no matter the weather, I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible participating on a regular basis in our Club Medals, competitions and Club matches. Our trend towards higher numbers playing on a weekly basis remains in place, and we have an exciting Fixture List for you in 2012.
The major computer developments in 2011, coinciding with the refurbishment of the Dormy, proved to be highly successful, and we hope you will continue to enjoy the benefits of our new system.
One of the new developments for 2012 will be at our Invitation Day, where we will have a shotgun start on the PGA course. This will allow your guests the opportunity of playing the 2014 Ryder Cup venue, and for us all then to get together for a meal and the prizegiving.
As ever, good luck for 2012, both on the golf course and off.
Gordon Anderson (Captain)

Matchplay Competitions
Published

Members should be aware of the Rules of these Competitions. They are noted under the 'Competition Rules" tab. Also, in order to encourage ties to be played as soon as possible, we operate a system whereby, from Round 2 onwards, the first person to qualify for that Round in each tie is regarded as the player with the right to choose the course and the obligation to offer alternative dates. Opponents should sort this out between themselves, but it would be helpful if the winners of ties could enter both their name and the date of the tie they have just won. This should make clear who has the right of course choice.

Gavin Aitken Memorial Tournament
Published
April 2, 2012
As you will know, Glenearn competes on an annual basis with the three other golf clubs at Gleneagles for the Gavin Aitken cup. We are required to enter a team of 11 (plus one of the Gleneagles professionals), and the competition will take place this year on Sunday 13 May, with tee times from 8:00 to 9:50 on both the Kings and Queens courses. The competition is a Stableford, full handicap allowance, play from the White tees. The entry fee, to cover prizes, a charitable donation and soup / sandwich, is £10. If you wish to represent Glenearn, please email me at gordonanderson1@mac.com. You will be expected to attend the meal and prizegiving after the tournament. If we have more than 11 entrants, we will try to obtain additional places should any of the Clubs be unable to field a team of 11. Entries must be received by 29 April. The draw will be posted on Monday 7 May.
